Past Instructors ... Where are they Now? - Mr. Matthew J. St. Paul Senior Lecturer at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College
Matthew St. Paul was a senior Lecturer at Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) from 1996 until he retired in 2018. He was also the Head of the Business Studies Department. He taught Principles of Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Organizational Behavior, and also developed curricula for several business courses at SALCC. Mr. St. Paul was a Lecturer for Principles of Marketing and Organizational Behavior for the University of the West Indies (UWI) program offered at SALCC, and has been a part-time lecturer for UWI School of Continuing Education since 1997. Currently he serves as an Online tutor for Principles of Marketing, and Organizational Behavior & Management, with the UWI Open Campus since 2010.
Mr. St. Paul has also lent his expertise to various organizations. In 1981, he was a founding member of the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) and served as a member of the NCPD executive from 1981 to 1988. He was re-elected as President of the NCPD and served in that position from 1998 to 2003. During his tenure, he wrote the proposal for the NCPD which resulted in a 200% increase in government subvention to the organization in 1998. Additionally, he was elected as Disabled Peoples’ International (DPI) World Treasurer from 2002 to 2006 and represented DPI at regional workshops in Antigua, Barbados, St. Vincent, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and at international conferences in Mexico, Winnipeg, New York, London, Finland, Honduras and Japan.
Mr. St. Paul was the Executive Director of the St. Lucia Employer’s Federation (SLEF) from 1994 to 1996. He reorganized the operations of SLEF and increased the membership and the monthly workshops organized by SLEF. He has represented employer organizations during industrial relations negotiations with Trade Unions. Mr. St. Paul is also a founding member of United Producers Ltd. – a group of sixty-five farmers.
Mr. St. Paul is the owner of two start-up businesses: Jobs, Training and Consultancies (JTC) Inc., and Cacoli Gardens Ltd.
